SPECULATION TUESDAY. So I logged into my Facebook Power Editor to check out the new ‘Create Audience from Ad’ feature (Jon Loomer covers it pretty nicely here) and something weird happened, a button that I’d never seen before popped up and then disappeared. Check out this screenie I managed to take, notice the ‘Generate Variations’ button?
The button disappears when the page fully loads, so it’s definitely a glitch at the moment. When I click the button, these are the options I get.
It seems that Facebook is making it easier for advertisers to A/B test their ads. Instead of manually recreating each ad for A/B testing, it looks like Facebook will automate the whole process - it’s safe to say that these variations will be organized in a more intuitive way than they are when manually created too.
This is great news as it streamlines the ad buying/creating process – you should be A/B testing EVERY ad you make in order to be constantly learning and constantly optimizing – and when Facey drops this ‘Generate Variations’ button, you have no excuse not to.
With Facebook’s new ‘Objective’ based ad buying options, in addition to this ‘Generate Variations’ button, advertising on Facebook is becoming more accessible to EVERYONE, not just people who have no lives and stay up all night reading online marketing blogs (read: me).
PS this was me when I saw this button.
